HOPE's Door-to-Door Iftar Project Reaches Highly Underserved Areas

šŸ„˜ This week, HOPE USA's Door-to-Door Iftar project reached an area known by the residents who live there as "Kachra Kundi."


As the name suggests in Urdu, Kachra Kundi is a landfill area about an hour away from Karachi, Pakistan where a community of 1,000 families scrape together a living by digging through the garbage for food and finding things to recycle which they can then turn into a small income.


In a Needs Assessment Survey conducted by HOPE Pakistan, we learned that the most needy family in Kachra Kundi was subsisting on an income of $20/month for a family of 9. This translates to $.07 per person per day.


HOPE's Needs Assessment Study gave rise to our highly successful, donor-initiated Grocery Rations Project whereby the HOPE Team delivers monthly food rations to 21 families in various poor locales for the past four years.
